Hi tumblr!
I bought my lovely friend a lovely book for her 18th birthday this Sunday, 100 Years of Fashion Illustration, and it’s so lovely that I wanted to share a couple of the things that caught my eye the most when I had a quick flick through it.
The one on the left, from 1944, is anonymous and the one on the right is by René Gruau.

Day 5 of 72. 30th July 2010.
Obviously didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday, ‘cause of ‘prom’ (I went mainly so I had an excuse to buy this dress). And I didn’t check tumblr for one day, and ended up having to go through 87 pages if I wanted to look at it all, which I did.
We’re going on holiday tomorrow though and won’t have internetz access so I’ll post these day things when I get back, I’ll post today’s in a minute. And I would’ve liked nothing better than to sit at home and watch Dr Who all day but I had to go to town again to get swimwear, in my opinion one of the worst things on earth, along with the conga.
Oh yeah, just remembered that this photo features some of our awesome new room (mostly done by meine schwester I know).
Bye then!

Why loads of people in the US aren’t walking around in ModCloth cloves and custom Converse I’ve no idea. (Well thinking about it I’ve never been to the US so maybe they are, how would I know they’re not?) But if I lived there I’d be buying ModCloth dresses practically non-stop. Like this, for example:

which I think is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous and is $36.99, which xe.com tells me is just under £25. And I’d have at least one pair of awesome Converse of my own design but they don’t ship outside the US. I admit they are expensive-ish ($62, meaning £41) but it’s not exactly much more than you’d spend on a normal pair and definitely worth it for the extra awesome you can get. I mean, yes please, peacock Converse.

Shutting up now. -

We went to town again today. We went to Blue Bananana and they now have the dress in the shop, so I tried it on (even though I hate trying things on in there because you have to talk to people and then you have to go outside the changing room to look in a mirror because there aren’t any in the changing rooms). It was nice but a bit odd around the top. I like it but I feel a bit too exposed in it like I do with most things so if I had it I would need to get a nice plain top to go underneath it, maybe something lacy. But then I don’t really have much time to get them. I’m sure I’ll live though. There are a couple of other ones I quite like that might also be possibilities, they’re £50 and £40:

I did, however, get a dress from GAP. It’s nice and quite casual, in that nice orangey pinky colour they always have in GAP. Cost me £20.65 in the sale, it did. And I tried on a really nice shirt that I was tempted to get but I chose the dress instead.

Oh yes!
I forgot, I want this dress for prom. I don’t want to go to prom but I was persuaded a month or so ago by my friends so now I have to. Sigh. But if it means I can get a nice dress then it’s alright.
But yes, this one:

‘Hell Bunny Polka Dot Print 50’s style dress’
says Blue Bananana.
I think it’s pretty much perfect. And it’s only £30 which is awesomesauce because I obviously want to get something I can wear again afterwards. However when we went into Blue Banananana the other day to have a look at dresses, this one was not there. I might have to order it online which I don’t particularly like doing so much with clothes (apart from standard t-shirts).
